The Colorado Avalanche (36-10-4) travel to meet the Detroit Red Wings (23-22-6) Tuesday at Little Caesars Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPN+). Below, we look at the Avalanche vs. Red Wings odds and lines, and make our expert NHL picks, predictions and bets.
Colorado was stunned by the Boston Bruins 5-1 Monday. Boston floored it with 21 shots in the first period and finished with 45 on the night. The Avs should enter this one with a chip on their shoulder as they became the final team to enter the double-digit regulation loss club.
Detroit has won three of four games out of the All-Star break and has been playing some inspired hockey. The Red Wings haven’t played in six days though, so one has to wonder if rust will be a factor.

Darcy Kuemper (25-6-2, 2.47 GAA, .919 SV%, 3 SO) vs. Alex Nedeljkovic (14-14-5, 3.01 GAA, .907 SV%, 1 SO)
Kuemper is having a phenomenal month despite the recent setback. He’s 4-1-1 with a 1.98 GAA and a .937 SV% across six February starts. He beat the Red Wings in December and stopped 37 of 40 shots.
Nedeljkovic has been a little shaky in February at 1-2-0 with a 4.14 GAA and an .868 SV%. He had a strong performance against the Avs in relief in the December meeting as he stopped 36 of 39 shots in the 7-3 loss.

Avalanche at Red Wings odds, lines, picks and predictions
Avalanche 4, Red Wings 1
The Avalanche (-300) are the team to roll with, but not at this price. PASS and look to the spread.
Against the spread
The AVALANCHE -1.5 (-122) are the preferred side, but there’s some juice weighing down the return.
Colorado has won seven straight matchups head-to-head with Detroit and is coming off a loss and should be a bit chippy. Whereas Detroit may have rust to kick off early in the game.
The UNDER 6.5 (-120) is the better bet here because you don’t know what you’re going to get from Detroit after such a long layoff. The Under is 3-0-1 in the last four games where Colorado has at least one day of rest.
