Iowa State at West Virginia odds, picks and prediction

The Iowa State Cyclones (16-7, 3-7 Big 12) visit WVU Coliseum to take on the West Virginia Mountaineers (13-9, 2-7) Tuesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Iowa State vs. West Virginia odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Mountaineers have lost seven in a row, recently dropping a 60-53 decision at home to then-No. 14, now-No. 9 Texas Tech Saturday. They also failed to cover as 5.5-point underdogs vs. the Red Raiders.

West Virginia is 9-13 against the spread (ATS) this season, including 2-8 ATS over its last 10 outings. G Taz Sherman, the Mountaineers’ leading scorer (18.9 points per game), missed the Texas Tech game (concussion protocol), didn’t practice Sunday and is uncertain for this contest.

Iowa State is 13-10 ATS this season and 4-6 in Big 12 play. West Virginia is the only team worse in Big 12 play ATS at 2-7.

Iowa State is led by 6-foot-4 G Izaiah Brockington, who averages team-highs in points (16.9) and rebounds (7.8). Despite his success, the Cyclones are just 2-4 straight up on the road.

Iowa State at West Virginia odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa State 67, West Virginia 64

Money line

BET IOWA STATE (+105).

West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins said that he hadn’t checked on Sherman’s status by Monday’s afternoon media session. That doesn’t seem like it’ll bode well for the star guard.

If that’s the case, G Sean McNeil (13.5 PPG) and F Jalen Bridges (9.0 PPG) will be tasked with leading West Virginia. If that’s the case, it’ll be tough for the Mountaineers to break their losing streak.

Despite Iowa State’s struggles on the road, it has marquee wins over now-No. 20 Texas and Texas Tech. The Cyclones are the more proven team and worth backing to win.

Against the spread

LEAN to IOWA STATE +1.5 (-112).

West Virginia has covered just 1 of its last 7. With the spread being so similar to the money line in this situation, I’d take the healthier side and side with the Cyclones to win.

Over/Under

LEAN to the OVER 127.5 (-110). This is a low total. With both teams averaging 68.0 points per game, I prefer the OVER here.

West Virginia is 12-10 O/U this season, including 8-2 in its last 10 games. In Big action, the Mountaineers are also 7-2 O/U, while the Cyclones are 5-5 O/U.
