Oregon State at Colorado odds, picks and prediction

The Oregon State Beavers (3-16, 1-8 Pac-12) and Colorado Buffaloes (13-9, 5-7) meet Saturday in Boulder, Colo. The contest at the CU Events Center is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Oregon State vs. Colorado odds and lines, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Oregon State lost its sixth consecutive game Thursday, when the Beavers fell to Utah by 25 points (84-59). The league’s worst defense (75.0 points allowed per game) has allowed 78-plus points in each game of its losing streak. Defensive rebounding analytics peg OSU as being one of the bottom feeders in the Pac-12 in that category. The Beavers have been out-rebounded in six of their last seven games.

The Buffaloes lost a home game to Oregon Thursday, and they head into Saturday’s action on the three-game skid. Colorado struggles with shooting and taking care of the basketball. Over its three straight losses, CU has shot just 33.5% from the floor while committing 16.7 turnovers per game.

Oregon State at Colorado odds, lines, picks and predictions

Figure the home five as a near-80% win probability here. The current tag offers no profit margin. PASS.

Against the spread

The Buffs’ schedule has been tough of late; it gets much easier over the next couple weeks.

Recent OSU losses to Washington (by 10 at home) and Utah (by 25 on the road) are decent comps for this game. Colorado should be able to leverage the Beavers’ 2-point defense into a two-possession cushion. A monster edge in defensive rebounding and a sizeable advantage in free-throw frequency should push this one into double-digit territory.

BACK COLORADO -8.5 (-122).

Over/Under

Colorado has had some recent pace swings outside the normal distribution. And there are conflicting signals in the analysis here. But peg the OVER 136.5 (-110) with just a sliver of a lean.
